About Me

My name is Samantha Robinson. I am currently a college student at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. I am looking into a major of psychology for sure, but also a possible double major in biology as well. I haven't quite figured out the kinks yet. My main goal is animal cognition and behavior, so that I can begin an animal rehabilitation center of my own some day. Too many animals are euthanized every year because of behavioral problems that could be fixed with some loving care.

Ever since I was a child, I was interested in animals. At different points in my childhood we took care of skunks, bunnies, squirels, and of course, cats and dogs. Even today, if I find a sick animal, there is no stopping me to help it survive. Of course, I also try to be smart about this. Knowing that I am not a trained vet or specialist by any means (yet), I always alert the proper people to the problem so that the matter can be taken in the best of hands (or at least better hands). I encourage everyone to do this, because the animal in need will have the best chance of survival in experienced hands.

I have also been a vegetarian now for, I think, 3 years. I can never remember the year I started since it was kind of on a whim. Well, kind of. Actualy I had been pushing myself for a long time to do it, but I never really took the jump. Well I did try once before, when I was younger, but I only succeeded about a month or so. Everyone told me I wouldn't stick to it, so I gave in. But the second time around there was no stopping me. I finally said, screw everyone else, and I did it. For me. For the animals. So I guess when I say, "on a whim" I really mean that I finally just closed my eyes and jumped. And I am still proud of it to this day.

More recently, I just started a job at our local Humane Society. It is the first time I have really interacted with dogs since I was a small child, so it can be intimidating at times but I love it. I love the feeling that I am making a difference and that I am getting out into my career field. Our Humane Society se

ems to continually be struggling however. They are a no-kill shelter and more animals are coming in than getting adopted. I will post as much as I can about them to keep everyone updated on the wonderful cats and dogs looking for homes.

I encourage everyone to look around my website, whether you are a vegan and a strong activist or a person just interested in learning about the cause. I hope that everyone is able to use this site as a resource to everything animal related.
