What a Day!

Wow! Tornados, strong rain, puppies fighting.. It was just one of those days.. Right now, we have tornados above us and dodgeville as well. I just can't stop wondering if all the dogs are okay. My cats seem to care less, so I'm not worried about us at the moment.

But the good news is, William got adopted. :) Good luck William at your Forever Home. <3

Holy Puppies!

Well two days ago at the Iowa County Humane Society, we received 6 dogs during the one day. The good news is that, an owner of one came to claim it. The bad news is, the other 5 will probably stay at the humane society and wait for adoption. I love the dogs, but we are running out of space. :( 4 of our new members are adorable puppies. They are not potty trained for leash trained, so needless to say, they are going to be an interesting challenge. I believe they will get adopted quickly though. They are absolutely irresistable! I would love to foster one, but my cats at home right now aren't getting along as it is.

As for the website, I have added some new material so check it out. :)

Beagles and more Beagles!

Over the last few days I have made quite a bit of progress. I've been trying to get to know some of the dogs I don't know as well, so I can give an accurate biography for them. It is hard to keep up though. Over the past week we have received about 6 more dogs. Oddly enough, most of them are beagles. They are all beginning to adjust and learning that they can trust us. I used to have a really bad image of beagles. We "fostered" a friend's beagle when they couldn't take care of him for a while. He constantly shouted at the top of his lungs and went to the bathroom on my new carpet. But now as I work with beagles more and more, I am beginning to appreciate them more. Most of the beagles we have are pretty quiet, laid back, and very loving. Just goes to show that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover or be prejudice against a breed based on one experience (or stories you hear either).

Day off work

Today was my first day off of work at the humane society. Naturally, I end up there anyway. :) I love being around the dogs, and feeling that I am making their lives a bit better. I took dagwood, dudley, rufus, and macy out for an extra walk and out to sit in the grass to relax for a bit. I think it was nice for all of us.

Today I put some new biographies of the dogs up on the site. It's slow going, but it's still going. Oh and I was thinking about starting my own fundraiser. Anyone have any idea how to start one?

Great Day

Today went very smooth at the humane society today. I think it had a lot to do with me being in a good mood. It seems that the animals can sence your feelings and act accordingly. We have gotten about 5 new dogs over the past couple of days. One has a broken leg and another has extreme shyness. Whenever you go by his kennel he starts to shake like he's really scared. I tried to give him a treat today to show him that was not there to hurt him. He didn't take it, but he did lick my hand through the kennel fencing. I thought this was amazing. It was as if he was saying, "I really don't lik this kind of treat, but I appreciate the offer." I can tell I'm already falling for him. If only I could bring them all home. But I know they would not get the fair amount of personal attention they deserve that way. I am looking forward to tomorrow. I am going to try and see if I can get to the humane society in time to learn how to give Dagwood a bath and then also take some pictures.

Also, I added an "Animal Lovers Gifts" area in the site. There isn't much there yet, but I'll be adding more soon.

Day One Down

Okay, so day one is pretty much over. I have made great strides with the website, however it still feels like I have a million things to do on it (because I do!). The website is officially published so everyone can see it and I have copied all of the dog's pictures from the iowa county humane society website (ichs.net) and put them up in my gallery. I still intend to 1) get pictures of the dogs not on their website (since it hasn't been updated in awhile). 2) attempted to get some better pictures of some of the dogs, and 3) but up bios for each one of the dogs. The only one I have up there right now is Macy. Check her out. :)

Other than that, it was another hot day at the humane society today. It was just me and Dillon walking dogs so it took awhile, but there were a lot of people visiting and keeping the dogs company today as well. Oh and we got one new member. His name is Duke I believe. Since we already have a Duke, i'm assuming he will be dubbed "little Duke". I will try to get his picture as soon as possible. :)

First Day :)

Okay, so this is my first blog on my new site (although it isn't actually up yet). I'll be publishing the site once I get more of the empty spaces filled in. As for today, I work at the Humane Society and I will be asking my boss if I can post the cats and dogs up on here. I don't want to do it without permission and be stepping on anyone's toes. Once I get permission, it might take me a while to get them up since I will need to take new pictures for many of them and maybe attempt to write up a bio.
